The Roots of Proteaflora
Proteaflora began with humble beginnings and the entrepreneurial vision of its founder, Peter Mathews. Driven by curiosity, determination and a passion for plants, Peter established the business in the early months of 1974. What began as a small idea quickly grew into something far greater - a vision that would shape the future of the company for decades to come.
As the business evolved, Peter’s passion for the remarkable Protea family was shared by the next generation. His sons David, Andrew and John joined the business, each bringing their own expertise and perspective. Together they helped grow the company while building upon the strong foundations established by their father.
Today, Proteaflora remains a proud family enterprise, with the next generation of the Mathews family continuing to contribute to its growth and development. What began as a single vision has grown into a respected and established name within Australian horticulture - with a clear commitment to shaping a vibrant future for the industry.
