We also have strong international partnerships with overseas growers where we leverage our expertise and knowledge to provide a high quality technical service. We are proud to have successfully implemented a continuous improvement approach, and through accreditation under the BioSecure, HACCP, NIASA, and EcoHort programs, we provide customers with a quality assurance that sets the standards in our national and global landscape.
The roots of Proteaflora
From a very humble beginning, and with an entrepreneurial spark for adventure, Peter Mathews began and founded the company Proteaflora. It is hard to believe that because of his passion and vision he gave birth to where we are today. In the early months of 1974, not only was a seed sewn, but a dream was set in motion.
One direction which Peter did not foresee was that his family also had a passion for the prominent Protea plant – where they were to slowly absorb his dream and love for this obscure flora. David, and his two brothers, Andrew and John, quickly joined his side to not only modernise the brand, but to bring along their own independent skillsets which provided a fundamental layer to Proteaflora’s continued success and sustainability.
We are now at a time where the next generation of the Mathews family have entered the business showing a genuine passion in the development of what has become a Protea dynasty. Proteaflora is a proud and established company that sees itself with a vital purpose in shaping and paving a vibrant future in the horticultural industry.
